Damage through Undercharging
Continually undercharging a battery can completely ruin it by clogging the internal plates with corrosive sulfites. Because there is no easy way to unclog the plates without creating more damage, the only alternative would be to completely replace the battery. Purchasing a high-quality battery recharger, specifically designed for the type of batteries use, eliminates both overcharging and undercharging.
Another consideration when purchasing a RV or marine battery charger is to determine exactly how the batteries will be used. If the recreational vehicle or boat is going to be in storage through long winter months, it is probably a good idea to pull the batteries from the vehicles. It would then be recommendedto hook them up to a trickle type charger, inside a garage or other covered area, out and away from any harsh weather conditions.
Functionality and Portability

Keeping a charger inside a storage compartment of a recreational vehicle, or in a lockbox on a boat trailer provides an easy way to recharge a battery while away from home.
